Trying to concieve

If you are trying to conceive?

If you have been trying to conceive for 6 – 12 months without success, you are probably starting to wonder why it’s not happening. You may have had some tests – and maybe there is an obvious reason, or maybe not. Once all the routine tests have been done, we apply a Chinese medicine approach that addresses the whole body. There are several ways Chinese Medicine may be able to help you.

Trying To Conceive

Chinese Medicine looks at how the balance in your whole body may affect your fertility. The practitioner will ask an array of questions, as well as review any investigations that have been conducted, before making a Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis and treatment plan. A Chinese Medicine diagnosis considers the balance of yin and yang, the quality and movement of the blood in the body and of course, the energy flow.

Yin can be described as a cooling, hydrating and nourishing aspect of the body that can affect fertility in terms of egg quality, oestrogen balance and the quality of the endometrial lining. On the other hand, Yang relates more to the warming aspect of the body, blood flow and circulation, progesterone balance, and the “qi” movement in the body.

From a Chinese Medicine perspective, the body needs a balanced yin and yang,  as well as good energy and blood flow Furthermore, a good reservoir of these to be healthy and fertile.

Chinese medicine aims to improve all of these things to positively impact your fertility.

In the follicular phase

  • Increase microcirculation to sub-endometrial tissues so as to optimise the development of the lining of the uterus.

During and After Ovulation

  • Support ovulation by opening the meridians that run through the uterus and increasing blood and energy circulation in the pelvis.
  • Post-ovulation acupuncture points aim to reduce cramping and calm the mind.

Over the two-week wait

  • Reduce stress and anxiety, and promote relaxation.
  • Acupuncture to support possible pregnancy
