Catherine Brown (TCM) is the clinic director and senior practitioner. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and completed an internship at Jiangsu Province Chinese Medicine Hospital in China.

Catherine works with both women and men navigating fertility and IVF, offering compassionate and evidence-informed care using acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and nutrition. She brings two decades of experience and a commitment to collaborative, whole-person care.

Can fertility acupuncture support IVF on the Mornington Peninsula?

When should I start fertility acupuncture before IVF?

Ideally three or more months before your IVF cycle begins, which aligns with the natural maturation cycle of eggs and sperm. If your timeline is shorter, starting even four to six weeks out can provide meaningful support during stimulation and around embryo transfer.

How many acupuncture sessions do I need for IVF support?

Research suggests that nine to twelve sessions before and around embryo transfer is associated with improved outcomes, though even four or more sessions meaningfully improve clinical pregnancy rates. We tailor your treatment frequency to your IVF timeline and what is practically manageable for you.

Do you offer acupuncture on embryo transfer day near Mornington?

Yes. Our clinic coordinates on-call embryo transfer acupuncture in conjunction with local IVF providers including Melbourne IVF Genea, Adora Fertility, Monash IVF Newlife IVF, and No. 1 Fertility. We aim to offer pre- and post-transfer sessions on the day of transfer where scheduling allows.

Is acupuncture safe alongside IVF medication?

Yes. Acupuncture is a complementary therapy designed to work alongside, not instead of, conventional IVF care. All practitioners at our Mornington clinic are AHPRA-registered Doctors of Chinese Medicine with specific training in reproductive health. We communicate with your IVF team where relevant and with your consent.

What does my first appointment at the Mornington clinic involve?

Your initial consultation runs for approximately 90 minutes. Your practitioner will review your reproductive history, IVF treatment plan, general health, and any recent blood tests or imaging you can share in advance. Using Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic methods including pulse and tongue examination a personalised plan is developed that may include acupuncture, Chinese herbs, dietary therapy, and lifestyle support. We routinely coordinate with GPs and IVF specialists with your consent.
