Liz Magnussen

Liz is an assistant practitioner at The Acupuncture Pregnancy Clinic Alexandria, and is currently in the very last moments of her Traditional Chinese Medicine bachelor’s degree at the University of Technology.

Liz has decades of experience assisting patients and clinicians with all things pharmacological, although relatively new to Eastern Medicine. Liz completed a Pharmacy degree in 1991, and and Honours in Hospital Pharmacy in 1993 and a PhD in 2003 in Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of New South Wales. While raising and educating a family of three awesome humans, Liz became increasingly interested in how the mind, as well as medicines, affect the body – and the relationships between these elements can contribute to health and wellness. Liz expanded her studies to included acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and meditation.

Always an advocate for an integrated approach and has assisted in teaching science to the Chinese medicine students. Instead of sea change, Liz began her pivoted from pharmacy to a more botanical medicine – Chinese medicine. Liz calls her herb change something that comes from the heart, however, Liz still loves crunching the numbers for herbal formula and mixing the medicines under the kind and careful direction of the practitioners at Alexandria. Liz finds so much joy in this practical application of ancient wisdom and modern medicine that you can see her smile from miles away – and feels her smile is infused with every batch and perhaps making those lovely herbs extra healing!

Liz is known for her smile, can do attitude and enthusiasm.
