About the Clinic
The Acupuncture Pregnancy clinics (incorporating the original Acupuncture IVF Support clinics) in Sydney and Melbourne and the Central Coast are the first and only of their kind in Australia. The first clinic was established in 2008 in response to evidence from clinical trial results which demonstrated some benefits of acupuncture for IVF patients.
Professional integrity, best practice and offering appropriate clinical programs are a priority for us – in a field where patients can sometimes be very vulnerable.
In 2015, The European Journal of Integrative Medicine published a survey of TCM clinics that advertised fertility and IVF support treatments. Of 137 websites surveyed only ONE passed the criteria of fair reporting of claims and research results. Yes, we are happy to say it was ours.
Our team consists of a remarkable group of trustworthy and dedicated practitioners all of whom have undertaken, and continue to undertake, extensive training in Chinese medicine gynecology and infertility. We work closely as a team supporting each other and constantly trying to work out the best approach for our patients differing needs.
SOME OF OUR PRACTITIONERS TALK ABOUT THEIR WORK
Not only do we bring to the clinic a wealth of experience in this area, many of us have personal experience of needing a bit of help ourselves. This brings a deep and compassionate understanding of the particular needs of couples who are having difficulty conceiving, or with their pregnancy.
For those patients already doing IVF, our clinics meet your unique requirements for high quality and predictable acupuncture support to be readily available and integrated into your IVF programme.
Our clinic also provides a useful service to acupuncturists who would like their patients to receive acupuncture at particular times of their IVF cycle but are unable to provide it in their own clinic, or their clinic is too far distant from the IVF clinic.
The Acupuncture Pregnancy clinics in Sydney city and East Melbourne have appointments available for short notice bookings 6 or 7 days a week and in Sydney Maroubra and Westmead, and the Central Coast 5 days a week.
The Clinical Director of the Acupuncture Pregnancy clinic, Jane Lyttleton is well known in Australia and abroad for her contribution to Chinese medicine particularly in the area of women’s health and fertility. Jane has studied, practiced, taught and written about Chinese medicine and gynaecology for 35 years, and has worked with IVF patients and their doctors for 25 years. Her text on “Treatment of Infertility with Chinese Medicine” published by Elsevier remains the seminal work in this area and is used by TCM practitioners worldwide.
